George Brown Signs For Sheffield Wednesday U21s

Ultimate Football Coaching Academy are delighted to announce that George Brown has signed for Sheffield Wednesday Under 21s - following a six-year association with UFCA.

The 18-year-old has enjoyed a successful trial spell with The Owls, and has signed his first professional contract at Hillsborough.

The striker joined UFCA at the age of 13, and has risen through the ranks showcasing outstanding ability and dedication in our academy structure before progressing to the UFCA Scholarship Programme alongside the UFCA Senior team.

Brown featured six times in a trial period for Wednesday, including throughout pre-season, and has scored twice, most recently in their 2-2 draw with Bournemouth last time out at Middlewood Road.

George becomes the second UFCA player to join Sheffield Wednesday in recent seasons, following Kailen Hatfield signing for The Owls' Under 16s side last year.

The 18-year-old enjoyed a tremendous debut season in men's football last campaign, netting 47 league goals in 26 appearances for UFCA Senior in the Yorkshire Amateur League Supreme Division - as well as helping the side to League Cup and County Cup victories.

Upon signing his contract at Sheffield Wednesday, George commented: "This is something every kid dreams of, I’ve joined a massive club, it’s a great achievement and I can’t wait to get started now.

“The intensity levels go up, the speed of play goes up but it’s important not to overthink things at times, you’ve just got to play your football and hopefully that is good enough to impress.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time at UFCA, they are a private academy and teach you how a pro team plays, their expectations, they help you develop and give you an opportunity and help get trials with pro clubs.

“It’s tough when you first come in but I’ve been in and around the lads and enjoyed playing with them and hopefully I will get many more goals during the season.

“Andy is a top coach and makes sure you are pushing yourself every day. He sees the best in you, the talent you’ve got and makes sure you are constantly raising your standards and doing the right things in training.

“We’ve got some games coming up at Hillsborough and that’s something to look forward to, there’s no better feeling than playing in a stadium.”

Everybody at Ultimate Football Coaching Academy would like to extend our huge congratulations to George and his family on this tremendous achievement.
