Simon Armstrong Appointed Junior Academy Director

Ultimate Football Coaching Academy are delighted to announce the appointment of Simon Armstrong as Junior Academy Director.

Simon, a UEFA B License Coach, will oversee academy operations alongside Steve Hart and Steve Grime - as well as working closely with all coaches to execute a long-term plan for player development.

Armstrong previously held the role of Head of Football at Ilkley Town, where he was First-Team Manager for over 10 years and oversaw their promotion to Step 6 - whilst implementing a player progression structure with an Under 23s team and full academy setup.

Under Armstrong's management, Ilkley Town won the Wharfedale Cup on three occasions and achieved two promotions - starting out in West Yorkshire Division One.

Before that, Simon held the position of Head Coach and Football Development Officer at Leeds Met Carnegie - where he also achieved promotion to Step 6 status with the university, and created partnerships with over 60 local schools.

Simon commented: “Steve Hart and Steve Grime have brought me on board to support them with the academy - and hopefully help them make it more efficient and improve it over the time that I am here.

“I’ve done a lot of work with the coaches already and have met all the coaching and operational staff. I’ve had lots of meetings to get the clearest picture I can of the organisation and how it works.

“I’ve watched a lot of training and matches and the standard is very high, so it’s exciting to be a part of that and to try help the academy get even better.”
